Ingvild Hovland Kaldal
The Album
27 Mar – 17 May 2009
Turku Art Museum is proud to present Norwegian Ingvild Hovland Kaldal’s exhibition The Album in museum’s Darkroom.

Kaldal’s (b. 1985) works investigate seemingly all too familiar events. By focusing on minute details and actions she succeeds bringing forth large emotional vistas. In the exhibition space presenting Kaldal’s work Untitled from 2007 we are first encountered with sounds of shattering glass. In the video we see people trying to smash a bottle to a chair with variable results.
This at first hand mindless task is transformed into a insightful portrait-like presentation of different characters. The represented persons all have their unique way of approaching the chair, breaking the bottle, covering themselves from shatters and ultimately in manifesting their inner feelings either by laughter or coy embarrassment.
Ingvild Hovland Kaldal has studied in Rogaland Art School in Stavanger and in various art schools in Sweden. She is currently finishing her BA studies in Valand Art School in Gothenburg.
